Data Protection Declaration

1) Information on the Collection of Personal Data and Contact Details

1.1 Cheers for visiting our website. Below, we’ll walk you through how we handle your personal data when you use our site. Personal data is basically any info that can be used to identify you personally.

1.2 The legend responsible for data processing on this website is AMELIA’S WELLINGTON. The "controller" is the person or entity who calls the shots on why and how your personal data is processed (as defined by the EU General Data Protection Regulation — GDPR).

1.3 This site uses SSL or TLS encryption to keep your personal data and other private info (like orders or enquiries) safe as houses. You can tell a connection is encrypted when the browser address bar starts with "https://" and shows a little padlock icon.

2) Data Collection When You Visit Our Website

If you’re just having a squiz at our site for info (without registering or sending us details), we only collect the data your browser sends to our server (known as "server log files"). This is just to make sure the site actually works and stays stable. We collect:

  • The page you visited

  • Date and time of access

  • Amount of data sent (in bytes)

  • The source/referral page you came from

  • The browser and operating system you’re using

  • Your IP address (potentially anonymised)

Processing this info is based on our legitimate interest in keeping the site functional and snappy, per Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. We don’t pass this data on or use it for anything else unless there’s a sign of dodgy (illegal) activity, in which case we might have a closer look at the logs.

3) Cookies

To make our site easy to use and enable certain features, we use "cookies" (small text files stored on your device).

  • Session cookies: These get binned as soon as you close your browser.

  • Persistent cookies: These stick around so we recognise your browser next time you visit. They might collect data like your browser type, location, or IP address.

Persistent cookies are deleted automatically after a set time. Some cookies just make life easier, like remembering what’s in your shopping cart. We also work with advertising partners who might place third-party cookies on your device. If that’s the case, we’ll let you know about it in this policy.

You can set your browser to alert you about cookies so you can choose whether to accept them or not. If you block cookies, some parts of the site might not work properly.

4) Getting in Touch

When you reach out to us (via a contact form or email), we collect your personal details to sort out your enquiry. This is based on our legitimate interest in getting back to you (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). If you’re contacting us about a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) also applies. Once your query is sorted and there’s no legal reason to keep the info, your data is deleted.

5) Customer Accounts and Contracts

When you give us your details to set up an account or make a purchase, we process that data under Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. You can ask to bin your account at any time by messaging the contact person mentioned above. Once the contract is done or the account is closed, your data is locked away for tax and commercial record-keeping periods and then deleted, unless you’ve agreed otherwise or the law says we have to keep it.

6) Use of Data for Direct Marketing

6.1 Newsletter Subscription If you sign up for our newsletter, we’ll send you regular offers. All we need is your email; anything else is optional just to make the messages more personal. We use a "double opt-in" method, meaning you’ll get a confirmation email first to make sure it was actually you who signed up.

You can bail (unsubscribe) at any time by clicking the link in the newsletter or emailing us at ameliaswellington@gmail.com.

6.2 Newsletters for Existing Customers If you’ve bought something from us before, we might send you emails about similar gear. This is based on our legitimate interest in personalised direct marketing (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). If you’re not keen, you can opt-out at any time by shooting us a message.
